Master’s by Course work and DissertationTo be admitted into a Master's programme by Coursework and Dissertation at the NM-AIST, the following requirements will be taken into consideration:
This is a professional Master’s programme and a student will spend the first three semester’s doing coursework and one final semester in a pre-selected industry or NM-AIST laboratory to solve a pre-agreed problem of the industry or community.

Application Period
The admission applications period for Coursework and Dissertation (CW) and Coursework and Project (CP) programmes is from February to October in each academic year. However, applications period for Master’s and PhD by Research and Thesis (RT) degree programmes are submitted throughout within the academic year. Academic year is normally opened in January in each calendar year.

Candidates to be admitted into the Master of Science in Sustainable Energy Science and Engineering (MSc SESE) must have obtained a good Bachelor’s degree with at least a GPA of 3.0/5.0 or its equivalent in the appropriate field of Natural Sciences, Agriculture, and Engineering. Specifically, the appropriate fields will include Physics, Chemistry, Agricultural, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related degrees.

Candidates to be admitted into the Master of Molecular Biomedical Engineering (BioE) must have obtained a good Bachelor’s degree with at least a GPA of 3.0/5.0 or its equivalent in the appropriate field of :
(a) (a) Possession of a second-class Bachelor’s degree in specialty subjects, with at least a GPA of 3.0/5.0 or its equivalent in an appropriate area of study from an accredited university or similar institution of higher learning. Students who need to join the Masters of Molecular Biomedical Engineering programme shall therefore need to have the following specialty (Engineering) specific qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Bachelor of electrical and biomedical engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Biotechnology, Molecular Biology; Biomedical Technology, Clinical chemistry; Biochemistry, Biotechnology/Bioengineering, Analytical Chemistry or any other related engineering discipline for postgraduate course.

Candidates to be admitted into the Master’s of Information Systems and Network Security (ISNS) must have obtained :
(a) Possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or similar institution of higher learning with GPA of at least 3.0/5.0 or equivalent for classified degrees, and an average of B for unclassified degrees in Information and Communication Technology related fields.
(b) These fields include but are not limited to Information Systems; Information Technology; IT Security, Informatics; Software Engineering; Computer Science; and Computer Engineering. Candidates with different levels of education such as Post Graduate Diploma (at least a GPA of 4) on top of an Advanced Diploma in a field closely related to Information and Communication Technology field and have attained the above mentioned required passes are also eligible for consideration to admission to the program.
(c) and/or post graduate Diploma at accredited universities or similar institutions of higher learning which issue academic documents in languages other than English shall submit notarized English translations of all supporting documentation including, transcripts and certificates. All university qualifications obtained from foreign institutions must be authenticated by the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU).

Fees and Funding
Fees
The fees structure for Masters and PhD degree programs depend on the mode of study (Course Work and Dissertations, Course Work and Project and Research and Thesis). The fees structure is arranged in three categories:
All Direct University Costs are paid once during reporting at the start of the year of study, except for Tuition Fee which is paid either in full amount during reporting for a degree programme or it is paid per year at the start of the academic year of study. For private candidates, tuition fees may be paid by instalments (at least 40% on reporting and 10% before the end of the first semester, and at least 40% at the start of the second semester and 10% before the end of the second semester) within a particular year of study.

For students with scholarships, the sponsors are free to send the Indicative Direct Student Costs, directly to a particular student or to the University, and the sponsored student can request the fund upon arrival to the University after completion of registration process. However, sponsors will be required to top up the administrative costs such as bank charges, extra duty charges, etc., to manage the students’ scholarships.

A limited number of scholarship opportunities may be available on competitive bases in each academic year. New opportunities can be found in the Announcements section of the home page (link).

Payment Modes
All students’ payments are done online through https://oas.nm-aist.ac.tz:8443/oasm/ for admission application fees and through https://nepp.nm-aist.ac.tz for other fees. Students are free to pay through mobile networks, using MasterCard or Visa Card or through any bank (bank transfer for international students).
Reporting And Registration
The reporting of new students is per semester and they normally report in January in each academic year, while the second semester starts in June each year under normal circumstance. However, reporting period for Master’s and PhD by Research and Thesis (RT) degree programmes is throughout within the academic year.
For preparation of reporting the prospective students can access on our website the information for reporting, registration and orientation. The same information can also be sent to prospective students through their emails.
The prospective students are highly encouraged to properly prepare for reporting by carefully reading and understanding all information so as to avoid any missing documents which may lead to delay f registration for studies.
