Grite Nelson Mwaijengo is an assistant lecturer and researcher at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) in Arusha, Tanzania. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Biology (Aquatic Ecology) at KU-Leuven, Belgium. She has over six years of experience in the field of freshwater ecology. Her research interests lie in the areas of application of Eco-hydrology, GIS and Remote Sensing in solving aquatic resources management problems for ecological sustainability. She has developed expertise in landscape ecology, physico-chemical and biological water quality monitoring and assessment, spatial stream network models, assessment of rivers and wetland ecological integrity, and design and analysis of ecological data. She is also a member of VLIR-UOS P3 project: applied aquatic ecology (institutional cooperation between Belgian Universities and NM-AIST), and an alumnus of Australia Awards Fellowship (AAF) 2015 (Promoting the nexus between modern and African traditional agricultural production systems). She holds an MSc in Environmental Engineering from Chongqing University, China, and a BSc (Hons) in Aquatic Environmental Sciences and Conservation from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Grite has authored and co-authored scientific publications/papers in international peer-reviewed journals.
