Nelson Mandela Environmental Club

Nelson Mandela Environmental Club is a club that deals with a sustainable environmental management and biodiversity conservation. Both students and staffs have an equal opportunity to join the club. The club was launched officially on 17th July 2019 on NM-AIST SETI week. Currently, the club is operating its activities a Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology. Nelson Mandela Environmental Club is a single definitive and inclusive representative group for Youth Mappers at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST Mappers Association).

Vision

To be a leading environment club in African institutions and schools for potential environmental protection and economic generation

Mission

To sustainably manage environment and conserve biodiversity for both environmental and economic benefits of NM-AIST community

The environment club plans to engage in the following activities:

1. Trees and flower planting

2. Tree nursery establishment

3. Bees keeping and botanical garden

4. Sold waste management

5. Environmental education (outreach)

To date, the club has planted trees at the NM-AIST’s Karangai campus and started the process of establishing a nursery. A site has been selected and the inputs required have been identified.
