Message from the Dean CoCSE
Welcome to the School of Computational and Communication Science and Engineering (CoCSE) at NM-AIST.
To our new and continuing students, welcome to a community where ideas are challenged, knowledge is created, and technology is transformed into impact. We are delighted to have you join us.
CoCSE is committed to advancing computational and communication technologies through excellence in education, research, innovation, and industry engagement. Our expertise spans Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Machine Learning, Cybersecurity and Privacy, Internet of Things and Smart Systems, Telecommunications and Networks, Natural Language Processing, and emerging digital technologies.
We believe that research must translate into knowledge, innovation and practical solutions that address real challenges facing Tanzania and Africa. We therefore promote interdisciplinary research, technology development, entrepreneurship, intellectual property, publications and strong university–industry partnerships.
Our partners are an integral part of this journey. We work with universities, research institutions, government, industry, development partners and international organisations to create opportunities for joint research, innovation, student and staff development, technology transfer and real-world impact. We value these partnerships as a bridge between our expertise and the needs of society and industry.
As a postgraduate research-focused School, we expect our students not only to learn, but to question, investigate, innovate and create. We nurture the next generation of researchers, innovators and technology leaders who can contribute to Tanzania’s digital transformation and address Africa’s emerging challenges.
CoCSE continues to strengthen its role as a regional hub for emerging digital technologies, supported by research excellence, strategic partnerships, advanced infrastructure and interdisciplinary collaboration.
To our students: your journey at CoCSE is not simply about earning a qualification—it is about discovering what you can contribute to the world.
We welcome you to learn boldly, research deeply, innovate responsibly, and create impact.
Welcome to CoCSE—where knowledge meets technology, innovation, and impact.
