
On October 21, 2024, Treasurer Registrar Mr. Nehemiah Mchechu visited the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) at the Tengeru campus in Arusha, where he commended the institution for its impactful research and innovations that benefit society.
Mr. Mchechu emphasized the importance of NM-AIST, stating, “This institution should be viewed as crucial to our progress, as science and technology play vital roles in achieving advancement.”
He also enlightened that the Treasury Registrar’s Office is working to establish a unit focused on integrating research, resource mobilization, and commercialization. This initiative aims to ensure that the research conducted reaches its intended beneficiaries effectively.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Maulilio Kipanyula highlighted that Mr. Mchechu visit aligns with ongoing efforts to implement practical reforms in public institutions, including NM-AIST. He described the institution as a hub for science, technology, and innovation, contributing significantly to economic reforms both domestically and internationally.
During his visit Mr. Nehemiah Mchechu had the opportunity to visit several key areas, including the Digital Education Center (C-CoDE), library, laboratory, ICT Center (HPC), Incubation Centre, Small Factory (DDI), and the student dormitory construction project.
