Ms. Vaileth Kalangali is an Assistant Lecturer at the Nelson Mandela African Institute of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) in Tanzania, specializing in environmental science and chemistry. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Dar es Salaam and a Master’s degree in Environmental Science from NM-AIST. Her research interests include environmental chemistry, sustainable materials, and water and waste management. Ms. Kalangali has been recognized for her excellence in teaching, receiving awards such as Best Secondary Chemistry Teacher and a Young Scientist Tanzania Special Award. She is also active in community outreach to promote environmental awareness.

    Awarded by the Government Chemistry Laboratory Agency in 2015 and 2017 for excellence in teaching chemistry at the secondary school level.

    Recognized in 2018 for her commitment to supporting the region, schools, and students, highlighting her dedication to advancing science education and community engagement.
  • Malangali Community Partnership: Ms. Kalangali is involved in the long-term partnership between NM-AIST and the Malangali community, aiming to address local challenges and promote sustainable development. The partnership, initiated in 2022, focuses on building trust and establishing clear understandings of community needs, with a commitment to work together until 2032 to deliver sustainable projects that strengthen the community and enhance the well-being of children.   • Women's Empowerment Initiatives: She has participated in projects aimed at empowering women and girls in Tanzania. For instance, she was involved in the "Wanawake Tunaweza" project, which concluded in 2024. This initiative, in collaboration with the Legal Services Facility and North-South Cooperation from Luxembourg, focused on improving the social and economic status of Maasai women and girls in Longido District by building their capacity through women's groups engaged in various entrepreneurial ventures.
