Experience & Activities

Dr. Hashimu holds a PhD and a master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST), Arusha, Tanzania. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Structural Engineering from the University of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. Dr. Hashimu is a registered professional civil engineer with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB), Tanzania. He works as a Lecturer and Researcher at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST), in Arusha, Tanzania. His research interests are sustainable construction materials, green building materials, smart materials, high-performance concrete, corrosion resistance, metal matrix composites, and nanomaterials for structural applications.

Dr.Hashimu teaches/ coordinates/ supervises/ examines the following courses at NM-AIST:

  1. Ceramic Materials MaSE 6212.
  2. Advanced Materials Characterization MaSE 7202.
  3. Advanced Composite Materials MaSE 7203.
  4. Modern Ceramics MaSE 7206.
  5. Fracture Mechanics and Failure Analysis     MaSE 7207.

Dr. Hashimu is a member of the Institute of Engineers, Tanzania, and the Engineers Registration Board, Tanzania.
