Dr. Wilson C. Wilson

Wilson Charles has a distinguished record of success in coordinating and consulting on diverse agricultural research and development projects in the global South. His areas of interest include climate-resilient livestock systems, sustainable agri-food systems and value chain development, and community engagement. Prior to joining the NM-AIST in 2024, Wilson worked with the Tanzania Livestock Research Institute (TALIRI), the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Wageningen University and Research in the Netherlands, Local Government Authorities in the Njombe region, and Heifer International. Wilson is keenly interested in establishing and operating complex multi-stakeholder and multi-sector partnerships, with more than ten years of international experience focusing on improving food security and the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in developing countries. He holds a PhD in Production Ecology and Resource Conservation, an MSc in Animal Sciences (Global and Sustainable Production Specialization) from Wageningen University in the Netherlands, a BSc in Animal Sciences from Sokoine University of Agriculture in Tanzania, and a Diploma in Animal Production.
