Experience & Activities

Dr. Mtaki Thomas Maagi is a lecturer in the Department of Materials and Energy Science and Engineering of the School of Materials, Energy, Water and Environmental Sciences. He received his education and training at Ardhi University (BSc-Geoinformatics) and China University of Geosciences-Wuhan (MSc and PhD- Oil and Natural Gas Engineering), and after completing his PhD, he worked for two years at Dar es Salaam Maritime Institute (DMI).
His fundamental knowledge in petroleum industry has enabled him to work in a range of areas, including marine spill contingency plans, oil and gas laws and regulations, and health, safety and environment (HSE) in oil and gas industry. He has worked on curriculum design in the oil and gas industry several times. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
His areas of research include oil-well cementing, drilling fluid technology, nanomaterials and natural gas engineering.
