Dr. Godiana Hagile Philipo lectures at the Nelson Mandela African Institute of Science and Technology, Tanzania. She earned her Doctor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from the University of Paderborn in Germany, where she researched sustainable energy solutions, particularly demand-side management and energy management. She also holds a Master of Science in Sustainable Energy Science and Engineering from the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) in Tanzania and a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal in India.
Dr. Godiana has research interests in smart grids, renewable energy systems, demand-side management, energy efficiency, and the development of smart grid technologies to enhance energy reliability and sustainability. Her past work involved optimising energy systems through demand-side management and modelling, particularly in Africa.
Beyond her academic achievements, she was honoured with the 2024 African Women in Tech and AI Award (AWITAI), a prestigious recognition funded by UNESCO and the OCP Foundation. The award highlighted her proposed solution to solving the energy crisis in Africa using AI.
Her passion is to drive impactful change in energy systems, particularly in underserved regions, by integrating cutting-edge technology with practical, scalable solutions to address energy security, efficiency, and environmental sustainability challenges.
