Professionally, Aloyce Isaya Amasi, PhD is a Lecturer in the School of Materials, Energy, Water and Environmental Sciences at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST). He has a PhD in Environmental Sciences and background in Chemistry and Physics from his bachelor degree obtained from the University of Dar es Salaam. His areas of expertise focus on the fields of environmental and radiation physics, radiochemistry, marine and terrestrial pollution, environmental impact assessment, climate change, soil erosion and sediment source tracing (fingerprinting using geochemical & biochemical tracers) using a Bayesian mixing model (MixSIAR) built in the open-source R-package, dating and sedimentation reconstruction, radioactive and stable isotopes analysis.
His areas of research interests lie on environmental pollution which includes the application of nuclear techniques for environmental monitoring (marine and terrestrial) and for hydropower sustainability, soil health assessment, water resources management etc. He has published seven papers and presented two in international conferences. His current research (ongoing projects) are here under listed. He aims to contribute to sustainable land management plans safeguarding food, water and energy nexus through application of nuclear techniques. He has won fellowship on the application of nuclear analytical techniques for environmental monitoring and attended several training sessions on the same under IAEA contacts. He was also awarded USD 1600 in November, 2022 by the Great African Rift Research Group (GDR Rift) to attend the first scientific symposium held in Lyon, France.
