Prof. Riziki Shemdoe, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, has called upon participants at the NM-AIST 2024 International Scientific Conference on Tropical Horizons Advancing Sustainability in Agriculture, Environment and Technology to ensure that the conference resolutions are incorporated into the National Development Vision 2050. The aim is to catalyze positive impacts in agriculture, environment, and technology sectors across the country.

Prof. Shemdoe made these remarks on July 17, 2024, during the opening ceremony of the three-day conference held at Mount Meru Hotel in Arusha. The event assembled stakeholders and experts from both domestic and international arenas to deliberate on research outcomes in agriculture, environmental sustainability, and technological advancements aimed at sectoral development.

“The resolutions arising from this conference will empower policymakers to enact transformative policies that drive individual prosperity and strengthen the national economy,” stated Prof. Shemdoe.

 

Prof. Anthony Mshandete, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Institution for Academics, Research, and Innovation, speaking on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, emphasized that the conference resolutions would have far-reaching impacts across industries, farming communities, and environmental sectors. These outcomes are pivotal in shaping the 2050 national vision, ensuring sustainable development for future generations.

 

Associate Professor Linus Munishi, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, highlighted the inaugural nature of the NM-AIST 2024 International Scientific Conference, underscoring its role in disseminating expert research outcomes to stakeholders. These findings are critical in addressing socio-economic challenges and promoting environmental stewardship.
