During the visit, Prof. Park congratulated NM-AIST on its significant scientific initiatives, including the establishment of the NM-AIST Centre of Excellence for Renewable and Clean Energy, the positioning of NM-AIST as a regional hub for emerging digital technologies, and the successful implementation of the Waste-to-Wealth Programme.

Prof. Park stated the importance of excellence in science and technology, with particular emphasis on Mathematics and Physics, and highlighted the need for attracting and retaining leading experts in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence to support advanced research and innovation.

The Vice Chancellor of NM-AIST, Prof. Maulilio Kipanyula, emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration with academic and industry partners in Korea, particularly through staff and student exchange programmes and industry placements, as a means of enhancing national and regional competitiveness.

Prof. Kipanyula further noted that capacity building in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and related disciplines is a national priority, aimed at supporting the development of Tanzania’s digital economy. During the courtesy call, the Vice Chancellor also highlighted key institutional achievements, including strategic collaborations and the development of patented intellectual property.
