On September 9, 2024, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Daniel Mushi, praised the Nelson Mandela African Institute of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) for its significant research contributions.

During his first visit since his appointment on August 14, 2024, Prof. Mushi emphasized the importance of involving private organizations in commercializing research to enhance both the institution’s and the nation’s economy.

The incubation Centre was particularly impressive during my visit, though it is an area that requires further strengthening. –  Prof. Mushi.

He commended the Institute’s regional and international impact, highlighting the importance of showcasing its unique contributions through ongoing research and innovations.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Maulilio Kipanyula explained the Institute’s mission to address societal and industrial challenges through its research. He emphasized the need for government support to fully realize the Institute’s objectives.

During his visit, Prof. Mushi toured several key facilities, including the Center of Competence in Digital Education (C-CoDE), the Library, the Laboratory, the ICT Center, the Incubation Center, the DDI Small Factory, and the Student Hostel Construction Project.
