The Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) team at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NMAIST) convened a virtual meeting at Corridor Spring Hotel to review the institution’s progress and strengthen coordination of ongoing project activities.
Discussions centered on key implementation areas, including alignment with HEET objectives, performance across project components, financial management, safeguards compliance, and upcoming institutional milestones. Participants also examined emerging challenges and agreed on measures to accelerate the remaining phases of the project.

During the meeting, updates showed steady improvement in project delivery as well as growing employability among NMAIST graduates. The rise in graduates securing jobs within their fields was highlighted as evidence of the project’s impact on training quality and research capacity.
The session reaffirmed NMAIST’s commitment to enhancing research infrastructure, improving postgraduate training, and delivering results that align with national priorities under the HEET programme.
The meeting concluded with renewed commitment from MoEST, the World Bank, and partner universities to ensure the HEET project delivers measurable and long-term benefits to Tanzania’s higher education sector.
