The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) on 15th November 2024, welcomed a delegation from Simon Fraser University and Aga Khan University with the aim of strengthening the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the institutions.

Prof. Maulilio Kipanyula, the Vice Chancellor of NM-AIST, outlined potential areas for further collaboration with Simon Fraser University, including joint academic programs at the Master’s and PhD levels, staff mobility for offering short courses and training, joint research initiatives, proposal writing, and collaboration in Bioscience and Bioengineering.

He also emphasized the importance of experience sharing between the institutions.

In response, Prof. Dugan O’Neil, the Vice President of Research and Innovation at Simon Fraser University, highlighted the significance and success of the current collaboration. He encouraged both parties to intensify efforts in staff and student mobility, as well as in fostering innovation and training through their respective business schools.

 The delegation also engaged in a campus tour to gain insights into NM-AIST’s operations, visiting key facilities such as the Incubation Centre, accommodation areas (Rest House), hostels (PhD Houses), and various laboratories at NM-AIST.
