
The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) participated in the Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Science, Technology, and Its Applications, from 26th to 28th November,2024 in Vienna Austria.
The Tanzanian delegation at the conference was led by the Permanent Secretary from Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Carolyne Nombo. Other key members included the Ambassador of Tanzania to Austria, Hon. Naimi S.H. Aziz; the Vice Chancellor of NM-AIST, Prof. Maulilio Kipanyula; the Head of the Tanzania Atomic Energy Commission (TAEC), Prof. Najat Mohammed; the General Director of Bugando Regional Hospital, Dr. Fabian A. Masssaga; and various officers and experts from the Tanzanian Embassy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, and TAEC.
The conference culminated in the adoption of the Ministerial Declaration on Nuclear Science, Technology, and Its Applications, as well as the Technical Cooperation Program for 2024. These documents aim to enhance international collaboration in nuclear science and technology.
This opportunity serves as a springboard for researchers and lecturers at NM-AIST to focus on advancing research in the safe use of nuclear power, particularly for community and industrial applications.
