On June 14th, the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) hosted the Deputy Director General of the Universal Postal Union (UPU). Prof. Maulilio Kipanyula the Vice Chancellor of the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology stated that the collaboration with Universal Postal Union will enable our institution to create/develop solutions for postal service in terms of applications which are directly to postal services.
Also NM-AIST has a long lasting relationship with the postal sector as we already collaborate with PAPU and Tanzania Posts Corporation, in this relationship we create digital solutions that will revolutionize the postal industry in Tanzania and Africa.
Mr. Marjan Osvald the Deputy Director General of UPU elaborated that UPU perspective would like to support the NM-AIST and invites to be member of the consultant committee where academia institutions are actually contributing to development of the postal services around the world.
He added that the NM-AIST can contribute to development not only postal services but also delivery services in cooperation with PAPU and TPC.
Dr. Sifundo Moyo, Secretary General of PAPU highlighted the potential relationship with NM-AIST in terms of rolling out new products and services, capacity building for postal employees across Africa in data analysis,development of website and e- commerce platforms.
‘’We look forward to an ever lasting partful relationship between NM-AIST and the postal sector not only in Tanzania and Africa but globally’’ Dr. Moyo said.
