Ninety-two graduates from the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology have been urged to address societal challenges, enhance productivity in the production sectors, and improve services.
This statement was made on August 29, 2024, in Arusha by Hon. Maimuna Tarish, Chairperson of the Institution Council, during the 10th Graduation ceremony at Tengeru Campus in Arusha.
“I believe you will contribute to sustainable development, as our slogan states: ‘Academia for Society and Industry.’ Let this continue to be a guiding light in your workplaces,” said Hon. Maimuna. She emphasized that success is not merely a measure of knowledge but rather how one applies that knowledge. “Go forth and utilize the skills you have gained to build Tanzania and the African continent as a whole.”
Hon. Maimuna highlighted the institution’s achievements in various areas, particularly in technology transfer, innovation, and research focused on industrial development and addressing community challenges. She also mentioned ongoing projects, including the construction of hostels for mothers with small children and students with special needs, which is currently 60% complete.
