The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) has been awarded first place in environmental sanitation for the Arusha Region, in the institutional category.
NM-AIST was followed by Mount Meru Referral Hospital, which secured second place, while the Oloirien Health Center earned third place.
The award was presented on April 26, 2025, by the Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Dotto Biteko, during the 61st anniversary celebrations of the Union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar at the Kilimbero Stand in Arusha.
During the celebrations, Arusha’s Regional Commissioner, Hon. Paul Makonda, highlighted that the awards aim to promote environmental protection efforts, including tree planting initiatives within the city.
