The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology is set to collaborate with Fujian University of Technology in China to foster technological development and innovation aimed at attracting investors from various industries.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Maulilio Kipanyula announced this partnership on April 15, 2024, during the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understand at the Tengeru Campus in Arusha.
Prof. Kipanyula elaborated that the collaboration encompasses joint training programs, expert and student exchanges to enhance capacity building, and collaborative research projects aimed at addressing community challenges through innovative solutions.
“By harnessing the technologies developed through this collaboration, we aim to create opportunities for joint market ventures in both domestic and Chinese industries, with the overarching goal of tackling societal challenges,” Prof. Kipanyula emphasized.
Prof. Wu Renhua, Party Secretary of Fujian University of Technology in China, underscored that the agreement marks a significant step towards fostering development between the two institutions. The ultimate aim is to establish a technology hub that benefits both Africa and China.
Delegates from Fujian University of Technology were given the opportunity to tour various facilities including the Library, the DDI Factory, the High-Performance Computing Center (HPC), and the Incubation Center. This visit aimed at familiarizing them with the research, innovation, engineering, science, and technology initiatives being undertaken by the institution.
