On July 30, 2024, Professor Maulilio Kipanyula, Vice Chancellor of the Nelson Mandela African Institute of Science and Technology, welcomed official visitors from Technische Universität Berlin to discuss potential areas of collaboration.
During the meeting at his office, Professor Kipanyula provided an overview of the institution’s history and explained the five-dimensional business model, emphasizing the importance of partnerships for knowledge transfer, technology transfer, work opportunities, and networking.
Professor Kipanyula highlighted the institution’s plans to expand its activities, particularly by seeking potential partners in the incubation sector to create more opportunities for visitors to explore various innovations. He elaborated on his five key priorities as a leader: Human Capital Development, Networking and Internationalization, Commercialization, Information Systems, and Incubation.
He also expressed interest in partnerships focusing on supporting local and small innovators from grassroots levels through talent pools and innovation clinics.
Representatives from Technische Universität Berlin, Noran Kempmann and Paul Wolf, discussed their university’s support for innovation and entrepreneurship, including their recent establishment of a micro-credential degree program.

To move forward, Professor Kipanyula appointed Professor Liliane Pasape, Dean of Business Studies and Humanities, as the main point of contact. Professor Pasape will collaborate with the Technische Universität Berlin team to explore preferred areas of cooperation, develop a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), and collaborate on the micro-credential program.
