Njile Isack Shashi is Assistant Lecturer in the School of Business Studies & Humanities, atthe Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science & Technology (NM-AIST). He is Agriculturaland Development Economist, with considerable experience in Agricultural Research for Development, Agricultural Investment Analysis and Household Economics and Livelihood Strategies. His current work examines sustainable intensification options; sustainable land use and water managementandtheir implication on agricultural productivity; impact of intervention programs on agriculture as well as public policies for poverty reduction and developmental outcomes in Sub-SaharanAfrica. Before his current tenure, Njile was a Research Assistant at the Economic and Social Research Foundation(ESRF) where he coordinated the foundation's work on the implementation of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) funded project which aimed to enhance capacity of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) in the implementation of the Agricultural Sector Development Programme Phase II (ASDP II). He also worked as a Research Assistant under the Building Stronger Universities (BSU II) project at the Department of Agricultural Economics & Agribusiness (DAEA) of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). At DAEA/SUA he contributed to the development of curricula for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. He further coordinated research activities in Value Chain Analysis and Development on selected commodities of the project. He has research interests in policy analysis (using Partial Equilibrium &Computable General Equilibrium Modelling, Agent Based Modeling), and its role in informing investment decision for sustainable agricultural intensification and climate shocks adaptation. Currently Mr. Njile is doing PhD in Agricultural Economics.
