The NM-AIST signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Floresta Tanzania with the main objectives of Building the capacity of Smallholder Farmers, researcher’s staff, and students through collaborative learning, experimenting, and mentoring for an enhanced scaling and commercialization of research outputs and farmers’ technologies, and to facilitate farmer’s transformation to agribusiness.

The signing ceremony took place at Vice Chancellor Office at NM-AIST Tengeru campus on 9th September, 2022.

The implementation of this MoU will start with the framework of Farmer Research Network project in which NM-AIST will lead farmer experimentation to evaluate pesticide plants and other sustainable pest management activities in farmer groups at FLORESTA.

Our main outcome is creating impacts through research and close collaboration with smallholder farmers for sustainable farming systems in Tanzania and beyond.

The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ICDL Africa to collaborate in establishing the National Centre of excellence in ICT in education (NCEITE) at NM-AIST and ICT in Education digital skills need assessment database for the education sector in Secondary, Vocational, Professional and tertiary education institution.

The signing Ceremony took place at NM-AIST Board Room on 2nd September, 2022 whereby both parties will cooperate in facilitating the implementation of ICT in education training across the country in the education sector.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Emmanuel Luoga said that the Memorandum of Understanding will collaborate to achieve the desired objective through the provision of training to various educational sectors to ensure the correct use of ICT.

He added that the NM-AIST will provide trainers for ICT in education programme trainings and coordinate the National Centre of Excellence for ICT in Education (NCEITE) which will be operating within the Institution.

Country Manager of ICDL AFRICA in Tanzania Mr. Peter Maina said that will cooperate with NM-AIST to provide ongoing project support by providing training in ICT for betterment of the society.

“The use of technology has increased recently with this MoU will ensure the correct use of ICT through training and mentorship”

African Women are encouraged to pursue Science, Engineering and Mathematics subjects and courses in order to have more female scientists and academics in boosting the African economic sector.

That has been said by the Chancellor of the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology, Former Vice President Dr. Mohammed Gharib Bilal on August 18, 2022 in Arusha, during the 8th Graduation Ceremony to award Master's and Doctorate degrees to 131 graduates of the Institution.

Dr. Bilal explained that, despite the Government putting more efforts for women to study Science, Mathematics and Engineering subjects, the response is still not very high. Dr Bilal emphasized that women should not be afraid to study these subjects to increase the number of scholars in those sectors.

He further clarified that the country's economy is growing rapidly, its about time for girls and women to opt for Science related subjects, this can be facilitated by having various methods to motivate girls to take science subjects

The Vice Chancellor of the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-IST), Professor Emmanuel Luoga urged the graduates to be the catalyst for change and development by working on all that they have learned.

On his part, the Chairman of the Institution Council, Professor Joseph Buchweishaija said that the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology has produced various researchers and innovators who have been at the forefront of providing policy and practical solutions through the various works they do. This should always be the Focus of the graduates.

On the 8th graduation, a total of 131 graduates have been awarded Master's and Doctorate Degrees, whereas 103 Master's Degrees and 28 Doctorate Degrees (28).

The Inspector General of Tanzania Police Force Camillius Wambura and the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) Vice Chancellor Prof. Emmanuel Luoga signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on collaborative on forensic sciences and cyber security areas to its Staffs members.

The signing Ceremony took place at Moshi Police Academy (CCP) on 31st August, 2022 whereby the Occasion was witnessed by Legal Officers of the two parties.

“Forensic is an area of concern, hence the need to collaborate in undertaking training on forensic and other areas of concern for the benefit of the national economy” Said Inspector General of Tanzania Police Force Camillus Wambura.

He added that the purpose of this memorandum of understanding is to establish cooperation and collaboration in Forensic sciences and Cyber Security.

NM-AIST Vice Chancellor Prof. Emmanuel Luoga said that the Memorandum of Understanding will collaborate to achieve the desired objective despite that each party will be guided by principles and rules laid down by their respective establishing laws.

He added that this Memorandum of Understanding will remain in force for a year (1) renewable upon Parties consent by Collaborating jointly in organizing and participating in conferences, workshops and seminars, and promote Collaboration in data Storage and processing results.

The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) conducted a charity event by giving support to children with special needs at the Mount Meru Regional Referral Hospital, Good Hope Kiwawa Children’s Home and Ikunda children’s Home in Arusha.

Speaking during the handing over ceremony on July 19, 2022, Dean of Students Ms. Analyce Ichwekeleza narrated that this charity event is to mark the celebration of Nelson Mandela Week which is usually celebrated yearly on 18th of July and for the year 2022 the NM-AIST is celebrating by visiting the needs, and have manage to provide Health Insurance to seven children from the Good Hope Kiwawa Children’s Home and Ikunda Children’s Home. The NM-AIST also handled over cleaning tools and milk for children with special needs at the Referral Hospital of Mount Meru.

"We usually celebrate Nelson Mandela's Science, Engineering, Technology and Innovation week every July 18, each year one of the activities that we do includes community service, through provision of support to people in need," said Ms. Analyce Ichwekeleza.

Ms Ichwekeleza added that it is a great honor to be part of the society that comfort and put smiles to children living in difficult environment and to parents having children with special needs.

Mount Meru Referral Regional Hospital Matron Ms. Simphorosa Silalye extended heartfelt gratitude to NM-AIST for the support to the children with special needs and urge to continue with the spirit of dedication to help the community.

"We are grateful for this support of milk, diapers and special tissues, it is a great consolation for the parents of these children, may God bless you all" said Ms. Simphorosa Silalye

On other note, a student from Nelson Mandela, Mr. Daud Flavian said “the support touches the community directly and urge for people to come forward to help people with special needs and improve their lives.
