A total of 19 students from the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST), Arusha and the Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) represented Tanzania in UNESCO INDIA AFRICA HACKATHON 2022 organized during 20-27 November 2022 at Gautam Buddha University, Noida, India.

Ghaniya Rashid Hamad, and Eunice Silas from the Centre of Excellence in IT(CEIT), NM-AIST were among the winners each receiving rewards ( a cash of 1.6 M TZS and a gold medal).

The UNESCO INDIA AFRICA Hackathon organized by Ministry of Education, Government of India is an annual nonstop 36 hours event that brings together students, educators, teachers, and the research community of India and its African partners to tackle the common challenges faced by their countries and serves as a facilitator for cultural amalgamation.

According to a statement issued by the High commission of India Tanzania, this year 22 African countries participated, including Botswana, Cameroon, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Equatorial Guinea, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mali, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Sierra Leone, Togo, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
