The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) on 12th October, 2021 has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the East African Business Council (EABC) to reduce skills mismatch and upscale the digital transformation of the East African Community.

Speaking at the signing ceremony conducted at NM-AIST Guest of Honor Arumeru District Commissioner Eng. Richard Ruyango said that, the government recognizes the efforts made by the Nelson Mandela Institution of Science and Technology in partnering with various institutions to bring changes to the society.

“This is great move the Nelson Mandela Institution of Science and Technology has made which adheres in emphasizing the need and role of university –industry linkages to enhance employability of graduates” Said Honorable Eng. Ruyango

According to the NM-AIST Vice Chancellor Prof; Emmanuel Luoga said that the Public-Private Partnership or rather Academia Public Private Partnership(APPP) is very important in advocating innovation and research for industrial development whereby NM-AIST is an ambassador for supporting this movement.

“The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology encourages APPP as in the new corporate strategic plan aims to increase public-private partnership to strengthen outreach programs and increase public awareness and innovation” said Vice Chancellor Prof. Luoga

On the other hand Chief Executive Officer of EABC Mr. John Kalisa said that EABC will offer practical industrial placement for the academic in order to reduce skills mismatch and boost innovation towards a digital economy.

The signed Memorandum of Understanding partnership focuses on research, Innovation, entrepreneurship, technology transfer/commercialization, industrialization and investment.
