On 25th – 26th May, 2021 the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) in collaboration with the African Centre for  Water Infrastructure and Sustainable Energy Futures (WISE-Futures) conducted a Workshop On Improving Customer Care and Nurturing Entrepreneurial Mindset.

During the opening ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of the NM-AIST, Prof. Emmanuel Luoga highlighted that, a number of initiatives towards revenue generation for sustainability has been made, these includes strengtherning of the Resources Mobilization and Investment (ReMoI) unit and its commitees, establishment of Investment Company and many others. In order to sustain such developments, change of mind-set of our workforce is vital, that is why we decided to have this workshop primarily for by deans of schools, heads of departments and units.

The overall objective of the training was to open the managers’ minds and hence grab the available opportunities for  generating income while providing satisfactory services to clients.

Participants got an opportunity to various skills and strategies for improving services and output including Kaizen, ISO, customer care  and ethics at working environment. The aim was to ensure that workers are  views and ideas on management issues also visited the NEW Factory, which contains Nutrients, Energy and Water demo farm of WISE-Futures at NM-AIST.
