The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) is one of the implementing institution of the project Enhancing Climate Resilience in Eastern Africa by co-developing equitable solutions to land degradation and supporting their implementation (REAL-NBS). The project is funded by National Environmental Research Council (NERC) under the United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) and is implemented in partnership with other African and European institutions aiming at Sustainable management.
Northern Tanzania
In the operation endeavors the project invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced Tanzanians to fill the post of a Research Field Assistant (1 Position)
a) Qualifications, Knowledge and Essential Attributes
Holder of Masters Degree (MSc) in Environmental Science or equivalent from recognized University/College/Istitution in Tanzania. Must have knowledge of computer progammes such as Ms Word and Excell etc. Experience of working with local Communities shall be a key advantage.
(b) Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assessing the tragedy of the commons by delving into the factors contributing to communal land degradation in Maasai land and identifying potential avenues for change.
2. To facilitate and traslate workshops and activities in the project sites 3. Prepare and timely submit field requirements to the researcher.
4. Providing conservation education and the relationship between poverty and climate change to target communities
5. Weekly check-ins with the researcher
6. Prepare various reports related to the Project and submit them on time
7. Any other Duties and Responsibilities as may be assigned by the project investigators.
(c) Duration of the position:
Full time one year contract, with a probation period of three months. The contract may be renewed subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
(e) Remuneration
Gross Monthly Salary of TZS. 800,000/=
(f) Duty Station:
Work station will be Monduli, Arusha Tanzania with frequent visits to the nearby villages.
(g) Reporting to:
Local Coordinator/Principal Investigator (PI) and the Project administrator.
(h) Age Limit
Applicants should not be above 45 years old.
