The Chairman of the Board of the Tanzania Science and Technology Commission (COSTECH), Prof. John Kandoro, commended the implementation of the Samia Scholarship for Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Allied Sciences implemented at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST).

During his visit held on 11th December 2025, Prof. Kandoro received a report on the implementation of the program from Prof. Liliane Pasape, Program Coordinator at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology and commended the efforts to provide admission and scholarship opportunities to beneficiaries.

Prof. Kandoro urged beneficiaries to increase their efforts as it is the vision of success, and encouraged them to fully utilize the skills and training they gain, especially the ability to live and study in countries with different customs and traditions from those of Tanzania.

The Vice Chancellor of NM-AIST, Professor. Maulilio Kipanyula, thanked the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) for their continued support in the implementation of the program.

Mr. Simon Ashwile Simon, one of the beneficiaries ‘’said the knowledge, upbringing and skills they gain will help them cope with various environments when they study abroad’’.
