The Programme manager is the focal individual in this unit; he/she assists the coordinator in all undertakings of the partner programme. Along with preparations of reports the programme manager manages and organizes events related to the programme, manages procurement and provides logistical support to the programme.
The PSU is primarily responsible for managing the VLIR-UOS programme and providing logistical support to the VLIR-UOS researchers and students. The programme manager in collaboration with the accountant shall ensure that reports are submitted timely and that VLIR-UOS financial guidelines are strictly observed. The Objectives of the PSU are enumerated below:
The overall objective of the Programme Support Unit (PSU) is to provide necessary administrative and logistic assistance to ensure smooth implementation and coordination of IUC projects and keep all stakeholders at NM-AIST, VLIR-UOS and Flemish universities informed on the financial and technical matters of the programme.
In other words, the overall academic objective is to have the VLIR-UOS IUC programme effectively managed in order to strengthen the research capacity of the programme implementers in the domain of livelihood improvement in the upper Pangani by the sustainable management of soil and water.
The developmental objective of the PSU is to have the VLIR-UOS IUC programme effectively managed in order to facilitate each project to reach its developmental objectives and hence to contribute to the livelihood improvement of people living in the upper Pangani Basin.
The specific academic objective of the PSU is to have an efficient and operational IUC-office in place at NM-AIST and to assure a smooth management and coordination of the IUC-programme both in the North and in the South.
The PSU is the office responsible for finances and administration and reporting to both coordinators and to the Vice Chancellor of NM-AIST.
